What We Do

GeoCon holds engineering licenses in the states of Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana.  We provide geotechnical engineering, subsurface investigations, construction materials testing, structural Special Inspections, and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. Our services fall into three main categories:

Cone Penetration Testing

GeoCon also provides Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) to determine the geotechnical characteristics of the subsurface soils. These geotechnical characteristics include the soil’s strength, compressibility, stability, friction angles and also ground water elevations. The cone has friction sleeves and tips that produce computerized logs of the subsurface soil’s above described characteristics in 2 cm intervals. GeoCon has a Vertek 20 ton push cone and it is mounted on a wide track Caterpillar skid steer. We also have a sampler that connects to the cone rods that allows us the capability to obtain samples from multiple depths. We can do split-spoon type samples or small plastic tube samples.   Our machine is very unique due to its size and being track mounted. It is very mobile and we can access areas with soft and wet ground.  We also have a forestry cutter that we can attach to the skid steer and cut our way into sites. We are an economical option on sites that are wooded and or wet/soft.
